Week 84 - February 20 - February 26

Dear William boy and Gracie pooh,

You both are continuing to be expressive -- both big smiles and crying.  William, you point for us to tell you what everything is and Grace, you really continue to enjoy reading and turning pages of books.  You continue to have good focus and ability to sit still for a minute or so.  Your brother moves from one place or activity to the next very quickly, especially climbing anything.  We have been working with you to sit at the big kid table when you eat.  By the weekend, William, you were sitting for a good five minutes or so ... and your sister, took up where you left off -- standing on the chair to climb to the table!

We bid Julie farewell this week.  She came for your OT appointments and discharged you both Wednesday!  We will purchase a therapeutic toy for you, William, to help you orient things.  Grace you rock when playing with the pegs and peg board!  We will continue to work with you on W sitting and now, Grace, your walking on tippy toes is not problematic, as you do it when you please, then shift to walking backwards, and sometimes back to tip toes.  And we have a runner among us ... William, you sing and run simultaneously!

Dada washed Harry P this weekend.  He feels so soft and smells great.  Now Dada gets to scissor his coat to smooth him out a bit more.  With Henry and his mistress, Karen, coming for dinner and a visit, Harry was happy, happy Sunday night.  Karen helped put you two to bed.  She was so surprised that we put you to bed in the dark -- you do not know any different and we did not realize that is not the norm.  We believe heavily in routine ... so after dinner, you watch a Signing Time DVD, get your diaper changed one last time and into PJs, then we find baa-baas (blankets), and watch a few minutes of the Calm Baby DVD.  About the time we get the second vignette of the duck yawning, you both are saying night-night and/or are near the door.  We open the gate and you walk through the hallway, through our room, and into the front hallway.  Sometimes you get distracted by everything in our room so we redirect you by the shoulders or picking you up to get to your rooms.  We turn on the humidifiers, same CD you have listened to since you came home from the hospital, close the blinds, give you hugs and kisses, and put you in your cribs.

This week you met two new nannies -- Bridget and Jenna.  Jenna to cover Mondays and Bridget to cover Fridays until we find a permanent replacement for these two days.  Both nannies are interesting -- one is studying to be a midwife and the other a recreation therapist.  They both like to cook so Mommy cannot wait to see what they whip for you both.

We purposefully tried one nap this weekend for you each day.  It worked pretty well until the end of the day, when you are rubbing your eyes earlier than usual so we will not strive for one nap a day for now.  When your bodies want one nap, it will happen.  Besides, with Mommy getting home from work around 5:45pm and Dada closer to 7:30pm, we want to play a bit with you before you go to sleep.  And going with two naps generally affords time for play and settling down before the 8pm bedtime.

Dada is looking for a new digital camera.  We have taken a couple thousands pictures since Mommy went to the hospital before you were born and the current camera is getting tired. Hopefully we will find a replacement soon.

We love you,

Dada and Mommy
