Babies - Week 45 - May 23 - May 29

Dear Babes --

Grandpa Kent was here from California, helping Mommy and Dada with painting, building shelves, cleaning the garage, hanging ceiling fans and changing electrical switches and plugs (thanks Grandpa!).  He played with you and we think maybe showed you the secrets to learn to walk as you both are beginning to get the motions of what it takes to walk.  Scary for Mommy and Dada that you are growing up.

Natasha took Monday and Friday off so Elly came to be with you both on Monday and Elizabeth covered Friday.  Elly did a great job and thinks you are good kids.  Elizabeth took you both to North Park in Yarmouth Friday when there was a sliver no rain and even some sun!  Dada went to California this week for business.  We missed him and Dada missed you both.

In addition to being fitted for a helmet, which is still too big (an xxs is on order for you), we found knee pads for you, William.  They give us peace of mind with you crawling around.  Grace, you have rug burns on your knees as you crawl around more often than William so we found a "glove" for your knees.

William, you fell off Elizabeth's lap (about one foot) and landed head first on a hard-sided toy this week (all hard-sided toys are supervised toys now) so off we went to Barbara Bush.  Between when you fell and when you received factor, it was less than two hours so everyone felt you did not need an MRI.  Later in the day, Glen (the hematology nurse) called to check on you, William and you too Grace -- all was well and still is.  We were very lucky that Elizabeth called so quickly and the pediatric hospitalist was able to find a vein quickly.

Susan, the OT, visited this week and she saw how well, you, Grace are pulling to stand and varying your sitting positions.  She also saw that you, William like to bang your head.  We decided to pull out the rocker that we used several months ago to calm you and you love it.  It seems to give you great comfort and it amazes us that you know when you want and need to rock to alleviate your desire to bang your head.  Now we have a helmet for you, knee pads and the rocker -- and Grace, seems to enjoy sitting with you on the rocker.

We went to church Sunday (your nap schedule has precluded us from going during the 10:30am mass) and everyone commented how large you both are!  After mass, we had brunch at the Black Point Inn, enjoyed the live jazz music and singing and wonderful food.  It was surprising kid-friendly.  You both had eggs, cheese, cantaloupe and orange juice for the first time.  The temps were in the 70s although right on the water as we were, the temps were about ten degrees cooler.  Harry loved the ride as usual.  On our drive home, you both slept very well so we left you in the car for a while -- a while long enough for Mommy and Dada to begin weeding a garden in the backyard.  Thank goodness the house is on a corner lot so we just moved the car over and checked on you -- both of you were sleeping very contented and we weeded (just like the old days at Summer Place) and were rained upon for a bit.

Your little personalities are really starting to come out -- check out the pictures, they show it all!

We love you,

Mommy and Dada
