Babies - Week 19 - Nov. 22 - Nov. 28

Dear Babes,

This was a busy week – busy at home and busy at work.  Mommy and Dada painted pickets for the fencing around the neighborhood in the basement.  It was like the “old days” (before you) rolling and painting!  Keeping up with your laundry is much work – thank goodness for Katherine!  And we went with your cousin, August, for a photo shoot.  Your first official Christmas photos!  We cannot wait to see them in the next couple of weeks.

It was confirmed that you both will be baptized this weekend and we are very fortunate to have Fr McAllister to do the honors.  He visited us after Thanksgiving and we chatted.  We told him how much we miss Father Paul and how he reminds us of Father Paul.  Mommy and Dada were married during mass a little more than four years ago and that is why we want to have you both baptized during mass – he agreed!  He has twins in his family – three sets, all by the same woman!  Boy, she was busy!  He admired your christening gowns – they are precisely 98 years old!  Mommy found a couple of onesies so we can keep you warm under the gowns.

Mommy’s family arrived from the West Coast and New Hampshire – and we thoroughly enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner together. Of course, we prepared too much food and ate too much too.  At least we did not watch too much football but we did miss the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

You both started (again) Diflucan for your (continued) thrush.  At least the flavor is sweet enough that you do not spit the medicine out!  And come Monday, you go back to the doctor’s office for the last two shots of your four month shots.  We are quite pleased to have a calming sensory diet for William from Susan, the OT – and we used it with both of you while the family was here.  The stimulus and energy around the house was high, too high for your little bodies!  Everyone held you and loved you and even feed you!  Grammy and Aunt Judi were “christened” by Grace and William, respectively!  Grammy noticed how much you both hold you heads up and by yourself!

We are excited as this is the first week we are seeing you hold onto toys (well, we have to help you a bit but only a bit).  You enjoy gripping our fingers while feeding you and it seems that William, you may be a lefty (yea, says Mommy) and Grace, you seem to be a righty (good balance for Dada).

You both are talking as you know how – so we are off.

All our love,

Dada and Mommy

Well, it is Sunday afternoon and the baptisms are over (and everyone is poopered out!).  We are drafting content and loading pictures to your website -- it was an exciting day.  MaryEllen just made it in from Prague and Grammy worked hard on your gowns to make sure that they had appropriate ties (your baptisms, at 11 weeks (adjusted), are probably the oldest anyone has been who has worn these old gowns and we had to make sure that they would fit!).  Katherine and Poppa (Mommy's Poppa) were at the church for your special day too.  And we are thankful for the Holy Cross family, who shared in our special day and Father MacAllister, who called you his kids!  We have grown to enjoy Father's homilies when he offers mass -- and continue to miss Father Paul very much,

William, since your sister was born first, Father baptised you first.  So, now, you can claim ownership of being first at something very special, joining the Catholic faith.  You wore your Great Grandfather's slip and a beautiful coat, with very old lace.  Grace, you wore another of your Great Grandfather's slip and a gown with a different type of lace.  All of the pieces are very beautiful and special being from Mommy's family.  In fact, Mommy wore your Great Grandmother's christening gown when she was baptised 39 years ago, about this same time of year.  And Grammy likes telling people that since Mommy  was baptised at the Newman Center (in Fresno CA), the baptismal font was actually a large punch bowl!

A special thank you to Mommy's Grandmother (your Great Grandmother) and Aunt Kathe for letting us borrow the christening gowns and of course, to Grammy, for obtaining the gowns and getting them handwashed just before she came to New England.  We certainly could not have had such a special and traditional event without their help.  Hugs and kisses all around!

Happiest of Thanksgivings babies!
